MUTARE Juniors young footballer Simbarashe Muchara’s operation at Parirentatwa Group of Hospitals on Sunday was successful but he is still in dire need of post-operation medication costing about US$800.
The 17-year old, who will be sitting his Ordinary Level examinations this year, has been out of school since May 26.
Muchara was badly injured while turning out for his club, leaving him with a displaced kidney, raptured liver with a 4cm deep cut and intestinal volvulus (a condition where a portion of the intestine twists around it’s base potentially cutting off blood flow and leading tissue death).
In an interview this morning, Forward Muchara, father to Simba, said: “We are grateful to the Lord almighty and to all those who helped to see my son undergo a medical operation after being injured while playing football. However, we are still in need of more financial assistance to meet the post operation medical costs which the boy badly needs to survive.”
In a separate interview, Mutare football supporter, who spearheaded a GoFundMe campaign for Simbarashe’s medical attention, said: “I really want to appreciate all those who gave their hard earned money towards the young boys medical costs. I appreciate the assistance as well as the prayers that I know we’re said on behalf of this boy. However, I am coming back to the people of Mutare to finish off this honourable cause by kindly donating towards the expensive post operation medical costs. I know the generosity of the people of Mutare will see us through.”

I challenge people like Wicknell Chivhayo to step up to this call if his wealth is a blessing from God as he claims. $800 is insignificant in the bottomless source of cash he seems to have. Instead of donating cars to people who have dozens other cars, here is a chance to save a life. He usually donates to football, so here is an opportunity to continue with his philanthropy. Thank you in advance Wicknell.
