MANICALAND representatives in the National Association of Secondary Heads (NASH) Under 17 finals St Mathias Tsonzo will troop into match venues in Chinhoyi with their tails high after a resounding send-off ceremony held at the Anglican St John the Baptist Cathedral in Mutare yesterday (Tuesday).
The 2025 edition of the NASH national finals roll into life today (Wednesday), commencing with a vetting process that will culminate into group stage matches tomorrow morning.
Speaking during the send-off ceremony Manicaland Provincial Education Director Mr Richard Gabaza said: “When I watched your provincial finals where you were the champions, I went on to whisper to your head that this remarkable achievement must never go unnoticed. We need to have a resounding send off and pray for your success.
“When you get into the national finals never feel intimidated. They will intimidate you by saying they are ‘Mashonaland Best’. But let me remind you that you are the ambassadors of a great province Manicaland that is known for setting the pace and others have the priviledge to follow suit. We are the province to beat. Whther academics or non-academics. You are no exception. Bring back home that national trophy.”
The team’s send-off ceremony was also graced by Mutasa Central Legislator Innocent Benza, who was represented by his constituency secretary Maria Nyamubarwa and announced the Herentals owners material and morale support for the team, St Mathias Tsonzo High School Principal Loveshaw Mponde, SDC chairperson David Chidawanyika, NASH Manicaland head in charge of football John Tarumbwa as well as several Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education officials and Anglican Church leaders.
