THERE was no joy for Mutare-based teams competing in the ZIFA Eastern Region Division One as they all suffered defeats over the weekend.

Early pacesetters, Mutare City Rovers went down 1-2 to Greenfuel, while former Premiership side, Buffaloes lost 2-0 away to Melfort.

Nzuma Bar overpowered Manica Diamonds Juniors 2-0 in a derby pitting two teams from Manicaland.

Among the province’s five teams in Eastern Region Division One, only Greenfuel emerged victorious after their win over Gusha Bhora.

The marathon is now in its fifth week and action continues this coming weekend as the teams chase promotion into the top-flight league.

ZIFA Eastern Region vice-chairman, Simba Wisdom said they are looking forward to a great campaign.

“So far so good. The league is progressing well and the teams are raring to go,” said Wisdom.
