UP-and-coming Mutare’s Body Focus Gym bodybuilder Lee Dzinzi gave a good account of himself when he settled for third position in the Mr Novice contest held at Club 1+1, Long Chen Plaza in the capital last Saturday.
For his sterling effort, the 19-year-old former Dangamvura High School student, who started taking the sport seriously not more than three years ago, walked away with a trophy, a medal as well as supplements that include Muscle Growth and Creatian.
Apparently, this was only his third competition in his budding career after taking part in the Mr Zim and Mr Manicaland contests held late last year.
“I am really pleased with the progress that I have made so far. I think I can still achieve more in the sport. In fact, there are a number of bodybuilding competitions that are coming this year and I hope to do even much better than I have done so far,” said an elated Dzinzi.
Some of the competitions that the youthful bodybuilder is looking forward to this year include Mr Iron Man, Mr Harare, Mr Zim, Mr Manicaland and the Marondera Classics.
Meanwhile, Brian Samundombe earned his first bodybuilding title when he won the Mr Novice Bodybuilding seniors contest.
The athlete from Bulawayo reportedly came for his first contest with a sharp and balanced body although he still needs to add up more muscle if he aims to collect more accolades in his career.
Samundombe now takes over from Blessing Nyapimbi who had held the Mr Novice title over the past year, while the second place went to Edmore Yomani.
Lenson Mhlanga finished third in the senior men’s section as Marlyn Mangoto edged Sandra Ncube for the Ms Novice title.
Shammah Mugava emerged as the Mr Novice Fitness Physique with Tinashe Chaturuka coming second, but it was Shantel Batch who had the spectators up from their seats when she grabbed the Ms Novice Fitness and Figure.
