FINALLY, the self-styled strongman of Manicaland who misled the province and the entire nation that he is a descendant of the revered Nyati Clan has finally received the bitter medicine which during his heydays dished like confetti.
Remember his numerous, unreasonable suspensions of loyal party cadres, all in a bid to give relish to his big ego. He has met his match, albeit in a manner unimaginable in the last few months.
Mr Didymus Noel Edwin Mutasa had become law unto himself, a roaring paper tiger who brought harm to the solid image of the revolutionary party, Zanu-PF.
Mr Mutasa’s expulsion was greeted with pomp and fanfare by multitudes of the revolutionary party’s die-hard supporters and even by the ordinary men and women, who knew too well of his nefarious activities which only served to engender his personal aggrandisement. The Headlands Constituency seat is now vacant hence anytime a by-election will be held. If Mr Mutasa desires to test Zanu-PF’s eternal invincibility, let him dare challenge the ruling party candidate in that constituency in the pending by-election. Mr Mutasa’s behaviour, which had long veered off the rail, was never exemplary. It is in the public domain that Mr Mutasa abused vulnerable girls rendering a nullity the strides achieved by Government this far on gender parity and equality.
Fearing the unknown, the victims have remained silent. It would be an interesting scenario if any of these victims would open a lid on the can of worms roaming in the wilderness. Imagine, a former secretary of administration of the revolutionary party writing to external bodies seeking the impossible, mediation in a matter internal. Isn’t that hypocrisy of the highest order?
Lest Mr Mutasa forget that Zimbabwe is a sovereign republic which will not accept interference from anyone in the resolution of its internal matters especially matters involving a political entity. The anomaly which Mr Mutasa possess is that leadership which does not include him is non-existent. What a myopic way of construing issues. If it is not idiotic then it is laughable.
His idea of the revolutionary party, Zanu-PF is with him in the top echelons of the leadership. Had it not been the benevolence of President Mugabe, Mr Mutasa could have long back been in the doldrums of political obscurity as he is now. His current status of being a non-member best suits him given his penchant for diabolic machinations on fellow cadres of the party. Mr Mutasa’s unrepentance went into overdrive when he granted interviews to hostile media houses which he denounced just a few months ago. So, Mr Mutasa must have been a Zanu-PF member only when it suits his selfish interest.
A true cadre will remain loyal and dedicated to the cause of the revolution, even when you do not necessarily agree with sentiments of other comrades.
