Disgraced former Zanu-PF Secretary for Administration Cde Didymus Mutasa’s expulsion from the ruling party has been delayed, at least for now, after the Politburo, which met yesterday, set up a committee to look into the issue. The committee will be chaired by Vice-President Phelekezela Mphoko. The other members are Secretary for the Commissariat Cde Saviour Kasukuwere; Secretary for Legal Affairs Cde Patrick Chinamasa; Secretary for Women Affairs Dr Grace Mugabe; Secretary for Youth Affairs Cde Pupurai Togarepi and Secretary for Security Cde Kembo Mohadi.
Mutasa was among a number of Cabinet ministers fired from Government for allegedly working with former Vice-President Joice Mujuru to topple President Mugabe. Several other party officials were also purged from their top positions with former national spokesman Rugare Gumbo and then war veterans leader Jabulani Sibanda expelled.
Cde Mutasa’s Manicaland home province has since called for his ouster from the party.
