Mutasa’s Green Fuel score half-a-dozen goals

GREENFUEL returned from the mid-season break a charged up side as they ran riot with a 6-0 thumping of Lowveld at Chisumbanje in a ZIFA Eastern Region Division One Soccer League match.

Lloyd Mutasa’s men, scored three in both halves.

Claude Mapoka, who left Golden Eagles to join the Eastern Region side, made a mark on his debut, with a brace.

Prior to his departure, he was shouldering the scoring burden for the Eagles, having netted seven times.

Takudzwa Mahori, Keith Chikotora, Tatenda Gora and Tinotenda Majamanda also got their names on the scoresheet.

Speaking to H-Metro, Mapoka hailed Mutasa for believing in him.

“First and foremost, I want to thank the Almighty for what he has been doing for me, of late.

“Secondly, coach Mutasa for the opportunity to be part of this family.

“It’s always great to score on your debut but it’s even sweeter when it becomes a brace, I really enjoyed every moment of the game.

“I want to thank my teammates for a great welcome, which they have given me, it was easy for me to adapt quickly because I have played with many of them before.”

Mutasa insisted it was key for his side to return on a high note.

“I’m happy with the maximum points, it wasn’t an easy fixture but the boys played well to make everything look easy,” said Mutasa.

“I was happier with the clean sheet, it shows the boys are playing as a team, we really need to keep on fighting to the last day of the season.

“We had a scorer in each department and it’s a sign that we should not depend only on strikers but everyone has to be involved.”

Greenfuel are now six points clear at the summit.

Closest championship rivals, Mutare City, settled for a 1-1 draw against Ruwa.

Mutasa is on the brink of a sensational return to the Castle Lager Premiership, should he claim his third Eastern Region title.

They are the only side which is yet to lose, and their ‘keeper, Tadias Baye, has had 15 clean sheets in 17 assignments.

He has so far conceded just three games and they have scored 36 times.
