BLESSING Muzarabani is now officially part of the glitzy Indian Premier League, IPL action after joining Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) for the final stretch of the tournament.
The towering Zimbabwean pacer arrived on Sunday fresh off the historic one-off Test against England that ended Saturday, and is now set for his debut appearance in the world’s biggest T20 league.
Muzarabani was roped in as a temporary replacement for South Africa’s Lungi Ngidi, who has returned home for national duty ahead of the Proteas’ World Test Championship final against Australia.
This marks a huge leap for the 27-year-old who previously served as a net bowler for the Lucknow Super Giants in 2022, a side that was, interestingly, also coached by Andy Flower, now the mastermind behind RCB.
“It’s a dream come true to finally get the call-up. This is the stage every cricketer wants to be on,” a close source quoted Muzarabani as saying before he boarded the flight to India.
RCB fans are already buzzing at the prospect of Muzarabani’s raw pace lighting up the death overs. The timing couldn’t be better either, RCB face his former camp, Lucknow Super Giants, in their final group game on Tuesday.
From Harare to Bengaluru, Muzarabani’s cricket journey has taken flight and Zimbabwe will be watching closely as their pace prince gets his moment on the global stage.
RCB, Muzarabani, Flower… the stars have aligned. Let the fireballs fly!
