THE National Arts Council of Zimbabwe Awards (NACZ) director, Napoleon Nyanhi, says there is a need for more awards to fully honour all the deserving artists in the country.
The NAMA ceremony will be held on March 1 at a venue to be announced.
”Nyanhi addressed a press conference in Harare yesterday.
He said they don’t just pick people randomly to be part of the NAMA adjudication committee.
He highlighted enhanced efficiency, transparency and fairness in the adjudication processes.
“The adjudication process is vigorous and transparent.
“Adjudication is a closed top secret and we do not tell people who the adjudicators are until the day off\ the NAMA awards.
“The NAMA board chooses those adjudicators, you don’t just select anyone.
“We take people who are able to choose people who deserve to win the awards.”
He added:
“We are extremely grateful to CBZ for coming on board and investing into the arts. It is definitely a worthwhile investment.
“Our objective is to promote and celebrate artistic excellence.
“We would like all the sectors to have their own awards so that we are not always looking at NAMA.
“For example, in film production, we might not be able to cover the whole production crew.
“We need to recognise everyone, unfortunately we can’t do it at NAMA.
“We are here to support anyone who has got an idea to support awards shows.
“Let us invest in starting more awards ceremonies for the business of music.”
