MBIRA musician, Nancy “Nasibo” Mutize, says she is aiming to expand her brand in Kenya.

She is currently touring the East African country.

Nasibo will be performing at the Nairobi Street Kitchen on July 20.

In an interview with H-Metro, the mbira musician said she has always wanted to penetrate the Kenyan market.

“I came to Kenya for a few shows and I am trying to see if I can actually tap into the Kenyan market and it has been great for me to see how other people appreciate our music.

“I met Blem Entertainment agent, Chege, last year in Tanzania at Marafiki Festival and discussed ways of expanding to Kenya,” she said.

Nasibo believes her brand is going regional as she is working with some of the African giants in the music industry.

“It has been great regionally, and globally, recently I got to share the stage with Youssou N’Dour.

“Those moves show that it is a great achievement in my musical career.

“It is not easy to get such opportunities to perform with great artists,” she told H-Metro.

Nasibo has been in the music industry for years as a backing vocalist.

She decided to be a solo artist in 2019.

She once performed with big artists like Habib Koite in a band called Music Crossroads Divas in 2018 at HIFA.

Some of the artists she has worked with in Zimbabwe are Jah Prayzah and Edith weUtonga.

This year, Nasibo took part in the Maisha Music Experiment held in Ethiopia by the EU delegation to the African Union.

It was a music collaboration of 12 artists from Africa and Europe where she shared the stage with Youssou N’Dour.
