National Blood Services to deploy mobile teams

Mobile teams are collecting blood in areas like Chiredzi, Zvishavane and Bindura.

NBS blood procurement and public relations manager Mr Emmanuel Masvi-keni said the collections would be made at Machipisa Shopping Centre in Highfield as well as in Tafara and Glen-View.
Mr Masvikeni said the low response to the Blood Donor Monthly which commenced early this month had necessitated the move.

“People responded well in the first two weeks of the exercise, but it is now dying down,” he said.

He said the organisation was in need of blood type O which is used universally.

“At the moment, we need blood group O because it is the most wanted blood group in hospitals and also it is used universally,” he said.

Mr Masvikeni said people could also go to the City Centre Clinic to donate blood.
