NEW: 2022 tobacco marketing season ends

THE 2022 tobacco marketing season has ended, with all contract and auction floors now closed.

 

In a notice to the public, Tobacco Industry and Marketing Board (TIMB) said the 2022 tobacco marketing season ended on October 21.

 

TIMB said there was an improvement in tobacco sales this season compared to 2021.

 

“TIMB wishes to advise all stakeholders that the final sale of tobacco for the 2022 tobacco marketing season was October 21. All contract and auction floors are now closed.

 

“As of October 21, a total of 212 711 370kg of tobacco had been sold at a value of US$650 308 534. This is an increase when compared to 211 100 219kg sold during the same period in 2021 at a value of US$589 573 827,” reads the notice.

 

TIMB said it will increase its efforts to establish a US$5 billion industry by 2025.
