NEW: Another setback for Musona 

Former Zimbabwe youth international, Walter Musona, is among 18 players who have been released by South African newly promoted DStv Premiership side Sekhukhune.

Roving wing-back MacClive Phiri has also been dropped by the team, who are one of the most active teams on the transfer market.

The Gauteng-based club clinched promotion to the top-flight after winning the GladAfrica Championship in dramatic fashion on the final day of the season.

Sekhukhune have so far brought in several new players such as Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Willard Katsande, Talent Chawapiwa and Thabo Rakhale.

According to an official club statement, on-loan players Katlego Cwinyane, Wandile Bophela, Andile Bophela and Tshepo Mofokeng have returned to their parent club Orlando Pirates, while Sibusiso Mzilazi is heading back to fellow Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs.

Thabang Mokoena, Thulani Ndlela, Noko Malekana, Simphiwe Hlongwane, Tshepo Makgoga, Pentjie Zulu, Junior Awono, Musona, Phiri, Thabo Motlafi and Sifiso Mbhele have all been released.

Siphumelele Mbulu and Ntokozo Mtshweni have been loaned out to GladAfrica newcomers Venda Football Academy.

Babina Noko open their 2021/22 DStv Premiership campaign at home to Chippa United at Makhulong Stadium, Tembisa, on August 21.
