HIGHLANDERS have appointed a Portuguese coach who is highly regarded by his countryman Jose Mourinho.
Baltemar Jose De Olivieira Brito, who served as Mourinho’s assistant at FC Porto, Chelsea and Inter Milan, is the new man in charge at Highlanders.
Brito holds the UEFA Pro licence and will be in charge at Bosso until December 2023. He comes with his own assistant, Antonio Joao Martins Leao Torres, who is a holder of the UEFA B licence.
As assistant to Mourinho, Brito won the UEFA Champions League Cup, two Premier League trophies and the FA Cup.
“Highlanders Football Club is pleased to announce Portuguese Baltemar Jose De Olivieira Brito as the new coach of the club’s first team, taking over from coach Mandla Mpofu who recently parted ways with the club on mutual consent,” a statement released by Highlanders Friday said.
Mpofu was sacked soon after the abandoned match between Highlanders and Dynamos on May 15.
For now, Joel Luphahla remains one of the assistants until Highlanders announce the full technical team.
