A CALL has been made for Government and other stakeholders to avail more secondary schools in Ward 26 of Chipinge South so as to reduce the current shortage.

Ward councillor, Councillor Misheck Busangabanye, said the current situation has forced learners in the area to walk long distances to the nearest secondary school.

“We need a secondary school constructed at Matikwa so that it conveniently serves the surrounding communities as learners from this area are walking a distance of around 17 kilometers to get to the nearest secondary school in Katanga. Sadly, this has forced some of them to drop out of school and the situation has to improve,” said Cllr Busangabanya.

Government is moving to expand the education system by building schools in marginalised rural communities and disadvantaged urban centres across the country.
