MUTARE City Rovers have appointed a 15-member executive led by popular Mutare football personality, Isdore “Beefy” Bingura in an effort aimed at installing committed individuals in various positions within the leadership structures of the Premier Soccer League bound club.
After having done a sterling job from social soccer to competitive Division One football, it will certainly be a stern test of Bingura’s football administration credentials at the highest level of the game in the country.
As Bingura takes over the baton at the helm of the clubs administration, long time workmate and friend, Lyndon Kanemba also bounces back in an advisory committee that also includes several reputable football persons in Mutare.
Mutare mayor, Tatenda Nhamarare remains as the club patron.
Bingura, who takes over from confectionery company owner, Samuel Tauya, will be deputised by Tanda Rwambiwa.
Soul Tomu will be the team’s secretary general, deputised by Misheck Jaricha, while Victor Gwenge will be the treasurer deputised by Robert Dzanza.
Clayton “Baggio” Masekesa will remain the spokesperson, while Benjamin Chindima will be the teams’ chief of protocol.
Prudence Mhlanga is the team doctor.
Paddington Mugabe will be the welfare manager, Hatinzwani Kubuya will be in charge of transport and Samson Kabwe comes in as the organising secretary.
Committee members are Abigail Musunzuru and Howard Mujanga.
The team also welcomed back former team manager, Lyndon Kanyemba who is has now been assigned to the club’s advisory committee.
In an interview, Masekesa said: “Yes, I can confirm the appointments of the executive members. Bingura is our new chairman for Mutare City Rovers 2016. The reshuffle within the executive comes at a time we have rebranded our team. Bingura comes in as a leader with high passion for football.”
Masekesa described Bingura as a committed person with undoubted desire to see things moving forward.
“As an executive we have put our heads together and we are making
efforts to fulfil our dreams of maintaining Premier League soccer in
Mutare and Manicaland as a whole,” he added.
Masekesa also confirmed the reappointment of Kanyemba, who was
relieved of his duties in 2014 for alleged misconduct.
“Yes, it is true that Kanyemba is back with us again. We have buried our differences and have realised that he was with the team from its formative stages as the team manager. He fought the battle with us all these years and we need his experience to guide us,” said Masekesa.
“As you can see, we have an executive with people who have experience in football and administration. This is a well balanced executive that has eight members from the community and seven members from the council. We want to influence community participation. This is a community team and we are welcoming anyone with positive ideas to come forward and propel the team to our desired destiny,” he said.
In his acceptance speech, Bingura said: “I want to thank the entire
executive for making this decision that I have accepted. This is a
very big position with big challenges, but as a team we will pull
through together.”
Bingura added: “We have remained focused to see our team moving
forward. As Mutare City Rovers, we therefore call upon the football
lovers in Mutare to come to our matches in their numbers to support
us. This is their team and our success lies in the people of Mutare.
We will make sure that we will deliver according to their
expectations.”
Meanwhile, the team has also set up a marketing committee that will
have individuals from the community to market the team.
“We are now talking about Premiership football and we have seen the need of having a marketing committee that will be responsible for marketing the brand of Mutare City Rovers.
“This is a very important committee that requires people with dedication. We are therefore calling upon all football lovers of Mutare to come forward and play their role in putting in place various marketing initiatives that will make Mutare City Rovers a team of choice,” said Masekesa.
He said the marketing committee would be a community-based approach where the people in the committee would design ways and share ideas that they think would help the team.
There has been an advisory committee that will assist the team by
giving positive football ideas.
“We are looking forward to meeting the interested parties to be roped in the marketing committee and soon we will hold a meeting with them. Those that are interested can get in touch with the executive members and plan a way forward,” said Masekesa.
