CONCERNED by the continued poor results being posted by Highlanders Royals, a group of female Highlanders members yesterday held an emergency meeting and came up with an interim executive structure that will be led by business woman Caroline Ndlovu. She will be deputised by another business woman based in Esigodini, Thandiwe Msimanga. Former Zifa councillor and Zimbabwe Referees Committee chairperson Samukeliso Silengane was nominated to the post of board member competitions.
The new committee replaces the one person led Sibekiwe Ndlovu. Highlanders committee member Wisdom Mabhena was also in attendance. “Yes, I can confirm that I attended the meeting which, from what I leant was a crisis meeting following the poor run by our ladies team,” said Mabhena.
He said he will present what was discussed to the rest of the executive members at tonight’s meeting.
Highlanders Royals have had a terrible run in the Southern Region Women Football League that has seen them failing to win or even score. They have been losing by a minimum of eight goals. Their performance though has been improving with each passing 90 minutes. Jackie Ngwenya is the coach.
Highlanders Royals was revived by Caroline, Silengane and Zifa honorary member Cecila Malunga upon the realisation that the Highlanders has to fulfil the Fifa Club licensing programme requirements .
The Highlanders executive has, however, openly stated that they have no funds to run the ladies’ side.
