NEW: Cops arrested over US$90 bribe

TWO junior police officers have been arrested on allegations of soliciting a US$90 bribe from a motorist in Mutare.

Sergeant Jennifer Dudzai Chiponda and Constable Glynislynn Mutsago, all from Mutare, will appear in court on Wednesday on allegations of soliciting and accepting a bribe from a motorist.

The officers allegedly demanded the bribe to facilitate the release of the motorist’s vehicle.

The motorist reported the incident to the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission and a trap was set.

The duo was arrested after accepting US$20.

They are being charged with bribery as defined in the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act, Chapter 9:23.
