New deal for Blackett

LONDON. — Manchester United are poised to give rookie Tyler Blackett a bumper new contract. Blackett has featured regularly under Louis van Gaal this season, making six appearances including his debut.
The 20-year-old is currently on just £2 000 a week at Old Trafford, despite now being a key part of the senior set-up.

But according to reports, United are ready to multiply Blackett’s earnings by 25 and bring him up to around £50 000 a week.

Currently, the club’s top stars like Radamel Falcao, Angel Di Maria and Wayne Rooney earn three times more in a week than Blackett does in a year.

But the defender will be rewarded for his progress into the first-team under Van Gaal.

The Dutchman is confident Blackett will grow into an established United player and has a bright future at the club. “In England it is not very usual to start the build-up from behind. United do. This is where my Ajax background becomes useful.” — The Daily Express.
