ZIMBABWE international Terrence Dzvukamanja came on as a second-half substitute for Orlando Pirates but could not save the Bucs from a consequential 2-0 defeat against SuperSport United in the last match of the 2021/2022 DStv Premiership on Monday.
The result means Orlando Pirates will not play in Africa next season after finishing sixth, three places below the CAF Confederation Cup slot.
Champions Mamelodi Sundowns and runners-up Cape Town City will play in the CAF Champions League, while Royal AM clinched the CAF Confederation Cup ticket.
The 28-year-old Dzvukamanja finished the season without a goal in 25 appearances, although 15 of them were substitute appearances.
He joined Orlando Pirates from Bidvest Wits in 2019 and has not managed to impose himself at the Buccaneers, where he is mainly used as a substitute.
And, on Monday, the former Ngezi Platinum Stars striker came on for Fortune Makaringe in the 63rd minute when SuperSport United were leading 1-0.
United, who fielded veteran Zimbabwe left-back Onismor Bhasera, made it 2-0 six minutes after Dzvukamanja was introduced.
The 36-year-old Bhasera played 90 minutes to cap a remarkable season for the veteran, who started 25 times for SuperSport United this term.
