NEW: Educator nominated for global award

DR Patricia Gonde, the acting head at Lustiana primary school in Greendale, Harare, has been nominated for the 2023 Women Changing the World Awards.

Founded by Dr Tererai Trent, the awards were designed to celebrate, support and inspire women to unlock their potential.

Dr Gonde told The Sunday Mail that the nomination was a confirmation of the positive impact that women are making all over the world.

“The awards recognise women achieving outstanding success in sustainability, humanitarian work, leadership, advocacy, tech, product development, education, health and innovation,” she said.

“Being nominated for these awards is such an honour and I feel elated to make it to the finals of this prestigious and tightly contested competition.

“It means the work I am doing is impactful globally and it’s bringing change to a lot of people.”

The nomination comes at a time when the world is currently celebrating women’s month which acknowledges women’s achievements.
