The Environmental Management Agency (EMA) arrested 364 individuals in an anti-littering operation conducted last month in Harare.

EMA spokesperson Ms Amkela Sidange said the agency, in collaboration with other law enforcement bodies, remains committed to ending littering and illegal waste dumping.

“Under the Environmental Management Act (CAP 20:27), individuals caught littering or dumping waste unlawfully are subject to fines,” she said.

“Recent operations have resulted in the arrest of over 360 individuals for littering in Harare alone.”

Ms Sidange emphasised the crucial role of local authorities in maintaining clean and safe communities, urging greater enforcement of waste management regulations.
