NEW: From dancehall to mbira

AFTER successfully hosting the oversubscribed Harare Zimdancehall cup clash, Chipaz Promotions will host a mbira musical show dubbed Bira reMbira in Harare.

The show, which will be held in partnership with the Government of Zimbabwe, will be at Gwanzura Stadium on September 27.

Among the musicians set to perform are Jah Prayzah, Diana Samkange, Andy Muridzo, Hope Masike, Nyamasvisva, Amadhuve Sasha, Kurai Makore, Vee Mhofu and Gushungo.

This is the first time that Partson “Chipaz” Chimboza is promoting a mbira music show.

Chimboza said the show was not ordinary.

“The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation recently recognised the mbira instrument. Also, the month of September is Mbira Month,” he said. “So, for us, there is no better time to hold this show than this month.”

Chimboza has previously promoted sungura, gospel and Zimdancehall shows.
