MANICA DIAMONDS are quietly building a fortress at Sakubva Stadium, where they have lost just twice in their last 20 Premier Soccer League matches.

The Gem Boys are on a five-match winning streak at the Mutare venue, which has become a nightmare for visiting teams.

Since their promotion to the topflight in 2018, Sakubva has been their trusted stronghold, and it will be put to the test once again on Saturday when they host Harare giants Dynamos in one of the season’s early blockbuster fixtures.

With seven points from four games in the 2025 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League campaign, Jairos Tapera’s side has made a steady start, and crucially, they have won both of their home games so far, grinding out identical 1-0 victories against Yadah and ZPC Kariba.

“It’s still early days; we have only played two games at home, but we are happy with the start and want to continue our strong run at Sakubva,” said Tapera.

“The season is still young, but I’m encouraged by how the team is shaping up and excited about what’s ahead.”

Meanwhile, Dynamos arrive in Mutare on the back of a morale-boosting 1-0 win over defending champions Simba Bhora at Rufaro Stadium last weekend.

However, they will be wary of Manica Diamonds’ form at home.

Bret Amidu was on target in Manica Diamonds’ 1-1 draw against Herentals at Rufaro Stadium last weekend, and he will again be central to their hopes against DeMbare.

Despite losing key players during the off-season, including speedy winger Michael Tapera, the Gem Boys have reinforced with some smart signings, including the former FC Platinum duo of Rainsome Pavari and Lawrence Mhlanga, as well as midfielder Clive Dzingai from ZPC Kariba.

Beyond results, Manica Diamonds are also drawing big crowds at Sakubva, where thousands are expected to fill the stands for what promises to be a thrilling encounter.

With momentum, form and home advantage on their side, Manica Diamonds will be looking to extend their unbeaten home run and send another giant packing from their Sakubva fortress.
