A 33-year-old woman from Mbare, Harare, has been sentenced to 50 months (more than four years) in prison after being found guilty of unlawful possession of dangerous drugs.

Brenda Chipfunde was arrested on February 7, 2025 in Masvingo while looking for transport to take her to Harare.

Acting on a tip-off, law-enforcement officers intercepted her and conducted a search.

This led to the recovery of 6,3 kilogrammes of dagga hidden inside a duvet.

Chipfunde was immediately taken into custody and later charged.

Authorities have intensified surveillance and patrols to combat drug trafficking and abuse across the country.
