TWO police officers whose video went viral on social media after being recorded while allegedly taking bribes at Mabvuku turn-off in Harare will stay in Remand Prison until Monday when they return to court for their bail ruling.

James Chifamba and Trymore Mukunza appeared in court charged with criminal abuse of office as public officers.

They were not asked to plead when they appeared before Harare Regional Magistrate Mrs Marehwanazvo Gofa.

It is alleged that on November 2 after Mabvuku traffic lights along Mutare Road towards Harare, the duo was enforcing traffic regulations.

The court heard that the two allegedly failed to check for violations, but proceeded to wait for the drivers of vehicles to approach them, have a brief conversation and receive varied amounts of money.

This, according to the State, shows favour to the motorists in question and in so doing act contrary to their duties.
