PEOPLE in Marondera West have started receiving food aid in line with President Mnangagwa’s commitment that no one will die of hunger.

Addressing multitudes of Zanu PF supporters at a rally at Madzimurema Business Centre in Chihota, Marondera West legislator Cde Godwin Tavaziva said Government has solid plans to cushion food insecure people.

He said some families in his constituency have already received food aid from Government as part of the national drought mitigation programme.

“I would like to thank you for voting President Mnangagwa into office and also trusting me with your votes as your Member of Parliament.

“We are now looking forward to working together towards developing our constituency.

“The President gave us inputs under the Pfumvudza programme. We were all happy to receive seeds and fertilisers, but unfortunately, we did not receive much rain as expected.

“Our President is very much alive to the situation we are facing. l have heard that some families have already received mealie meal as part of Government’s measures to make sure that no one dies of hunger,” he said.

Turning to roads, Cde Tavaziva said plans are already in place, through the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development, to resuscitate roads in the constituency.

“As part of the development agenda, the Government is working on roads. This includes the Landas Road, which is about 67 km long,” he said.

Cde Tavaziva also said solar-powered boreholes will soon be drilled under the Presidential Borehole Scheme, with three wards expected to benefit under the first phase.
