The Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services is holding a weeklong strategic planning review workshop in Masvingo.

The workshop, which kicked off today, will see the Government and stakeholders in the industry joining hands and coming up with strategies to improve the media climate.

Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister, Dr Jenfan Muswere, is expected to officially open the workshop on Wednesday.

Speaking on the first day of the workshop, Deputy Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Dr Omphile Marupi said the media plays a central role in keeping the nation informed.

He said the media also drives national development by amplifying messages that are key in making sure that Zimbabwe becomes an upper middle-income economy by 2030.

Media stakeholders such as ZUJ, MISA, Zimbabwe Media Commission and Media Alliance of Zimbabwe, as well as parastatals under the Ministry of Information such as Zimpapers and ZBC, among others, are expected to make presentations.
