LOCAL non-governmental organisation, Federation of Organisations of Disabled People in Zimbabwe (FODPZ) has commended Government for the inclusiveness of the 2022 National Budget.

Said FODPZ national director, Mr Leonard Marange:

“We have seen people with disabilities being included in the Budget, with an allocation set aside to cater for their special needs, and this has happened in the Second Republic. We really appreciate our Government’s initiatives.

“People with disabilities will now work towards framing resource bands that benefit people with disability and maintain sustainable development for future purpose.”

He made the remarks during an indaba on disability-inclusive budgeting responsiveness in Harare on Wednesday.

Speaking at the same meeting, Ministry of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare director for disability affairs, Dr Christine Peta said:

“For us to know that we have achieved disability inclusion we have to be actively involved collectively.

“Government is in the process of establishing focal units of disability in all Government ministries, which upholds the reality that there is disability in every sector.”
