FARMERS under the Pfumvudza/Intwasa Programme will start receiving inputs next month as preparations for the 2024/25 summer season intensify.
Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development Permanent Secretary Dr Obert Jiri said the inputs will be distributed according to agro-ecological regions to guarantee good yields.
“The distribution of Pfumvudza/Intwasa inputs is now underway to GMB depots nationwide,” he said.
“Seed distribution to farmers, starting in September, will be aligned with agro-ecological regions to guarantee good yields and ensure household resilience building.”
According to the 2024/25 summer crop plan presented in Cabinet recently, Government targets to increase the production of cereals by 340 percent this season, with 3,5 million households set to benefit from the Pfumvudza/Intwasa Programme.
The target is to have a minimum of 400 000 hectares under Pfumvudza.
At least 12 427 plots have been prepared to date.
