Several members of Sherwood Golf Club in the suburb of Mabelreign yesterday initiated a clean-up campaign to commemorate World Clean Up Day.

World Clean Up Day is commemorated on September 18, each year.

Said Sherwood Golf Club chairman Mr Briggs Bomba:

“We want to ensure that as community members we get involved in the clean-up campaign. We are mobilising ourselves with these efforts.

“We are in touch with the local district office, once we clean all of this we will take it to the dump site in Pomona for free,” he said.

Coordinator of the clean up campaign Mr Takawira Shumbayaonda urged the public to always keep the environment clean and safe for everyone’s health and maintain the environment for future generations.

“We are all responsible to ensure that our environment is clean, we are supposed to handover this environment to our children and to future generations.

“We should also have campaigns to educate the community on how important it is to keep our environment clean,” he said.

Over 40 members from Sherwood Golf Club attended the clean-up campaign yesterday, along with several Mabelreign residents.
