Residents of Meki Village in Mudzi and those from surrounding areas now have access to potable water after the local legislator drilled a borehole for them.

Residents had been walking for close to 5km to fetch water.

Meki residents applauded Cde Knowledge Kaitano for the kind gesture.

Village headman, Mr Meki said the borehole has brought relief to his community.

“In some cases, people would come back home with no water due to long queues. Some were fetching water from unclean wells at the nearby river. It was a dire situation. This borehole has brought relief to the people, not only in my village but in nearby communities,” he said.

Cde Kaitano said more boreholes are being drilled across Mudzi West Constituency under the Presidential Borehole Drilling scheme, with the aim to improve the livelihoods of people.
