Demand for electricity has significantly increased this year due to improved economic activity across key sectors, especially agriculture, mining and manufacturing, Government has said.

Addressing Tuesday’s post-Cabinet briefing, Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Monica Mutsvangwa said: “Cabinet notes, with pleasure, that increased economic activity, especially in the agricultural and mining sectors as well as the manufacturing sector, has increased demand for electricity.

“Furthermore, ongoing massive housing and other infrastructural development projects have increased the consumption of electricity.”
