NEW: Tobacco farmers plant 55 000 hectares

Over 55 170 hectares of tobacco have been planted for the 2023-2024 season.

According to the weekly report by the Tobacco Industry and Marketing Board (TIMB), early bird farmers have already started planting tobacco.

“About 55 170ha have been planted compared to 75 411ha during the same period last year.”

“Under irrigation, 19 202ha is covered with 35 968ha on dryland,” said TIMB.

Meanwhile ,112 447 growers have registered with TIMB.
