TRADITIONAL and faith healers who fall under the banner of the Zimbabwe National Practitioners (ZINPA) will, next Friday, meet in Harare as part of an on-going awareness campaign to curb child marriages and ritual killings.
The meeting is a follow-up to a similar one which was held in Nyanga last month.
Petronella Chiusaru, the ZINPA secretary said the meeting will discuss a number of issues, chief among them ritual killings and child marriages.
“There is need for us to constantly remind our members about the dangers of engaging in such evil acts as ritual killings.
“Some traditional and faith healers are in the habit of practising child marriages and this meeting will serve as a reminder to our members that it is against the law to marry off young girls,” Chiusaru said.
Miss Joice Guhwa, the Traditional Medicine Practitioner Council (TMPC) registrar will attend the meeting and address the participants.
Traditional and faith healers are regarded as some of the major drivers of ritual killings and child marriages.
