NEW: Two die in weekend accidents

TWO people died on the spot on Sunday – with one of them killed in a hit-and-run – in two separate accidents that happened in Rusape.

Acting Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka, confirmed the incidents.

In the first incident that happened at the 154km peg along Harare-Mutare Highway, Costa Kuwenyi died on the spot after sustaining serious injuries in a suspected hit-and-run accident.

Kuwenyi was last seen drinking beer at Lawrencedale shops by Nicodemus Kampila.

He was found lying dead by Raymond Sakutukwa by the roadside with fractured legs and waist.

 

The driver is unknown.

In another incident that happened at the 175km along Harare-Mutare Highway near Zimati Farm in Rusape, Learnmore Mupakwa, who was driving a Toyota Hilux Double Cab hit a scotch cart which was carrying Junior Shangwa (8) and another juvenile.

The two fell on the ground and were seriously injured.

 

Shangwa was taken to Rusape District Hospital where he died upon admission.
