IN a quest to equip local youths with skills in specific trades, a vocational training centre has been established at Muanganidze Business Centre in Chipinge West.
The institution is run by Baptist Convection of Zimbabwe Church.
The VTC is set to open its doors this year.
It will offer programmes in garment making, hairdressing and motor mechanics, among others.
The VTC’s board chairperson, Reverend Godern Mugwenhi confirmed the development, and said they are complementing Government’s efforts in promoting specialist skills for industry in line with National Development Strategy (NDS1).
“We have set up Baptist Convection of Zimbabwe Church Vocational Training Centre to contribute to the creation of a specialised workforce for industrialisation.
“This feeds into Vision 2030 as we support Government’s efforts to achieve a prosperous and empowered upper-middle income society by the year 2030,” said Rev Mugwenhi.
He said the VTC meets the standards expected of such institutions.
