A United Kingdom-based charity organisation, Stenom Foundation, which targets to reduce unemployment among youths through social entrepreneurship, is launching in Zimbabwe on Saturday.
It mainly pushes its agenda through facilitating access to funding, one-to-one support, business and specialist skills development and mentoring opportunities.
Its expansion to Zimbabwe was cemented by President Mnangagwa’s COP26 visit to Scotland and the UK, where there was a call for people in the Diaspora to be actively involved in economic development of the nation.
Stenom Foundation CEO Mr Craig Chimtengo, a Zimbabwean based in the UK, reiterated the need to capacitate sustainable businesses to create employment.
“There is need to increase exports, trade and investment promotion in line with Zimbabwe’s National Development Strategy 1 and Vision 2030, as well as United Nations Strategic Development Goal 8,” he said.
“In addition to our work in Zimbabwe, we will also maximise efforts to increase support and access to information for Diaspora youths wanting to start their social businesses in Zimbabwe by collaborating with key local organisations.”
Businessmen Mr Nigel Chanakira and Chamu Chiwanza will be guest speakers at the event, where individuals from both the private and public sectors are expected to attend.
