A Harare woman lit fire on her ex-husband’s doorstep after finding him enjoying quality time with his girlfriend, the Harare Civil Court heard on Wednesday.

Ema Chitsike was dragged to court by her ex-husband Lazerouse Chipfeya, who was seeking a protection order, citing her abusive behaviour.

“She also comes to my house and beats me. Sometimes, when we meet in public, she grabs my manhood, saying it is too small,” said Chipfeya.

“This happens in front of people who start laughing and taking videos.”

Chitsike admitted to starting a fire at Chipfeya’s house.

She said she could not stop talking to him since they had a child together.

“We have a child together and l am pregnant with his child. I can’t stop talking to him,” she said.

“The only time I went to see him was when I was sick, and I wanted to collect some medication.

“I found him with his girlfriend and I was angry, that’s when I lit a fire on his doorstep.”

Magistrate Ms Meenal Narotam granted Chipfeya a protection order against Chitsike.
