GOVERNMENT is ready to introduce Covid-19 self-testing, especially at ports of entry and remote areas as part of measures “to ramp up testing in all communities”.
Addressing Tuesday’s post-Cabinet briefing, ICT, Postal and Courier Services Minister, Dr Jenfan Muswere – who was standing in for Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Monica Mutsvangwa – said:
“The Ministry of Health and Child Care is ready to introduce Covid-19 self-test kits, mainly at points of entry and remote areas in order to ramp up testing in all communities.”
All provinces, he said, will continue strengthening the implementation of public health and social measures as part of the new normal of keeping Covid-19 in check.
As of June 14, Zimbabwe had 1 927 active Covid-19 cases.
Since 2020 when the country’s first Covid-19 case was documented, Zimbabwe has recorded 254 387 cases, 246 935 recoveries, and 5 525 deaths.
