TRADE and economic linkages between India and Zimbabwe are getting stronger, Foreign Affairs and International Trade Deputy Minister Sheila Chikomo has said.

She was speaking during India’s 76th Republic Day commemorations in Harare on Monday.

Deputy Minister Chikomo said there are over 25 Indian-owned companies that have invested in Zimbabwe.

“It is encouraging that the trade and economic linkages between Zimbabwe and India are getting stronger,” she said.

“We are looking forward to the next session of our Joint Permanent Commission on Cooperation, which should give some impetus to our efforts to deepen, broaden and consolidate the excellent relations that exist between our two counties.”

Indian Ambassador to Zimbabwe Mr Bramha Kumar said they will continue to strengthen ties with Zimbabwe.

“This year, I am sure our two countries will be able to scale up the already existing strong and bilateral relations,” he said.
