Zimbabwe is committed to maintaining good relations with India for the mutual benefit of the two countries, the Indian embassy in Zimbabwe has said.
This comes after the Indian Ambassador to Zimbabwe Mr Bramha Kumar paid a courtesy call on Vice President Dr Constantino Chiwenga at his Munhumutapa offices in Harare on Wednesday.
“The Ambassador of India highlighted the Government of Zimbabwe’s support to India on various international and multilateral issues of mutual concern,” reads a statement from the Indian embassy.
“Highlighting Indian investment in Zimbabwe, which is estimated at around $600 million and employing more than 5 000 locals, the Ambassador underscored ongoing scholarship under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) programme. More than 270 slots are being offered to Zimbabwe.
“He also mentioned the 17 Indo-Zim technological centres established through the Government of India’s grants in Zimbabwe.”
