BULAWAYO Chiefs coach, Nilton Terroso, believes his side will be ready to compete against Chibuku Super Cup semi-finalists Cranborne Bullets, when the two teams clash in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match at the National Sports Stadium on Friday.
While Chiefs have been inactive for the past two weeks, Bullets lost 0-1 against Ngezi Platinum Stars in a Chibuku Super Cup semi-final tie at the National Sports last Saturday.
However, the expatriate Terroso, feels that cannot be used as an excuse.
Bulawayo Chiefs beat Triangle 1-0 in their opening match before Match Day Two was called off, after referees withdrew their services following the dissolution of the ZIFA board by the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC).
“I wouldn’t say it’s (lack of game time) a major concern, but it’s difficult to plan without knowing whether you are going to play or not,” said Terroso.
“In terms of how we want to structure the week, in terms of how we work off the pitch, it’s much more difficult.
“In terms of competitiveness and match fitness it’s a disadvantage I guess, but it’s not an excuse for us, not having played is no reason why we should get to a game and feel like we have a handicap compared to the other team.”
The Portuguese coach is hoping both teams will deliver a good game, although there are fears rains might disrupt the match.
“We have to compete and have to be ready. We have to take this game like we would have any other game.
“We have been lucky enough to get everyone pretty much in it, we will have almost 100 percent squad available, which allows us to make selections.”
PSL new boys, Cranborne Bullets, opened their season’s account with a 0-1 loss at Chicken Inn.
