MARK Ngwazi and Andy Muridzo want to illuminate the 44th Uhuru celebrations at Murambinda Growth Point in Buhera on April 18.
The duo will join a star-studded line-up, which has Suluman Chimbetu, Madzibaba Nicholas Zakaria and Sandra Ndebele, among others.
“It’s an honour for us as artists to perform at State functions like the Uhuru celebrations, it means a lot to us,” said Ngwazi.
“Besides the exposure we get, we get to meet new fans since the events are now being decentralised and taken around Zimbabwe.
“I will be ready for this one which means a lot to us.”
Ngwazi, who hails from Chivhu, described Murambinda as his catchment area.
“By the way, my area borders Chivhu and Murambinda which makes it my hunting ground.
“I can’t wait to meet my kith and kin at this event.
“As someone, who is still building his profile, it’s always important to perform before my people.”
Muridzo’s manager, Gift Petro, said:
“It will be our welcome back show from the Australian tour. We are promising our fans fireworks, a performance full of energy.
“We are very happy to be also considered for these State functions. It shows that we are working very hard.
“Our last State function was a dinner at State House in February when the Botswana First Lady visited Zimbabwe.”
Other artists billed to perform at the event are Last “Tambaoga” Chiangwa, Chief Hwenje, DJ Fantan, Shantel Sithole, Diana Samkange, Argatha Murudzwa, Mathias Mhere, Bigboy Motsi, Takura, Simon Mutambi and Bio Mudimba.
