ZIMBABWE’S hopes of making a strong impression on one of the world’s fastest-growing beauty pageants now rest on the shoulders of reigning Miss Supranational Zimbabwe 2026, Nicole Nyawera, who leaves for Poland on July 12 to compete against some of the globe’s finest beauty queens.

Standing at an impressive 185 centimetres, the beauty queen says she is ready to embrace the challenge of representing the nation on one of the biggest international stages, carrying not only Zimbabwe’s colours, but also a message of hope through her advocacy for maternal mental health.

The Miss Supranational pageant, founded in 2009, has grown into one of the world’s premier international beauty competitions.

Hosted annually in Poland, it attracts contestants from more than 60 countries and is renowned for combining glamour, fashion, leadership, culture and humanitarian advocacy.

The 2026 grand finale is scheduled for July 31 in Nowy Sącz, Poland, where reigning queen Eduarda Braum of Brazil will crown her successor. For Nyawera, the journey is about far more than competing for a crown.

“I am well prepared. I have almost everything in place, and I’m now focusing on the final details, including polishing my presentation, practising my interview skills and ensuring I’m ready to represent Zimbabwe with confidence,” she said. Her preparations have included intensive runway coaching under renowned trainer Royce Gavi, whose mentorship has sharpened her stage presence ahead of the global contest.

While beauty remains a key aspect of pageantry, Nyawera believes the modern queen is defined by purpose, leadership and authenticity.

“I will represent Zimbabwe by being an authentic ambassador for my country, celebrating our culture, values and resilience while promoting my advocacy for maternal mental health. I hope to inspire others and make Zimbabwe proud through my actions, character and dedication.”

Her advocacy was inspired by the remarkable work of Dr Catherine Hamlin, whose lifelong commitment to restoring dignity to women suffering from obstetric fistula left a lasting impression on the beauty queen.

“My role model is Dr Catherine Hamlin. Her lifelong dedication to restoring dignity and hope to women through fistula care inspires my advocacy for maternal mental health. She taught me that true leadership is about compassion, service and creating lasting change.”

Within the modelling world, Nyawera draws inspiration from Zozibini Tunzi, whose reign transformed conversations around beauty and representation.

“She has shown that true beauty is rooted in confidence, authenticity and purpose. She inspires me to embrace who I am and to use my voice to create meaningful change.”

Nyawera also believes the modelling industry has evolved into a platform capable of influencing society beyond fashion and entertainment.
