SUPERSPORT United spokesperson Koketso Gaofetoge believes the signing of Warriors striker Kingstone Nkhatha last week will boost their strikeforce. Nkhata signed for United exactly six months before the end of his contract with Kaizer Chiefs but Amakhosi decided to let him go now.
“We are thrilled to have such a forceful striker in our corridors and we are confident he will be vital to the team and add depth as we aim to end the season in a respectable position.
“The Warriors marksman will be joining the rest of the team at training today which will be a huge bonus as the coach Gordon Igesund will have enough time to asess his strengths while preparing for the league games which resume after the African Cup of Nations at the beginning of February,” said Gaofetoge.
He was diplomatic about the contract deal with Nkhatha saying they are yet to finalise details.
Nkhatha started 20 matches for Amakhosi last year and scored three goals.
The Warriors striker joined Kaizer Chiefs from Black Leopards in July, 2012 and made his league debut against AmaZulu in the 6-0 win.
The Warriors striker had a tough season last year as die-hard supporters booed him throughout the first half of the season which resulted in the team head coach Stuart Baxter threatening to resign.
Nkhatha joins another Zimbabwean in the national team George Chigova who is the understudy to goalkeeper Ronwen Williams and former Dynamos and Warriors hard man Kaitano Tembo who is the team’s Under-19 coach.
