IN what promises to be a landmark moment for Zimbabwe’s showbiz scene, South African amapiano sensation, Nkosazana Daughter, is poised to make her inaugural performance in Mutare.

Scheduled to take the stage at Manicaland Motoring Club on September 5, her upcoming show has generated palpable excitement among fans and industry stakeholders, with many hailing it as a welcome boost to Manicaland’s live music calendar.

Famed for her chart-topping amapiano hits such as “Makhelwane”, “Sondela Dali”, “Dubula Dubula”, “Dali Wami”, “Esangweni”, “Ukwamukela” and “Amazwe”, the 25-year-old artiste, whose real name is Nkosazana Nolwazi Kimberly Nzama, has steadily carved out a reputation as the genre’s most distinctive voice.

Her rise to stardom was marked by collaborations with South African music giants including Master KG, Kabza de Small, and DJ Maphorisa, all of whom helped launch her onto international platforms.

Her 2023 debut album, Uthingo Le Nkosazana, solidified her standing in the music industry, with tracks like Sofa Silahlane and Dali Nguwe dominating music charts and Apple iTunes downloads across Southern Africa.

Since then, Nkosazana Daughter has been a regular fixture at sold-out concerts, including headline shows in Beitbridge, Bulawayo, Gwanda, and Harare.

Her Mutare appearance is being hailed as a major score for local promoters.

It will mark only the second time a major South African artiste has performed at the venue following the ill-fated Makhadzi concert in April 2023, which ended in chaos after fans pelted the stage with empty beer cans.

The crowd had grown restless due to the absence of a live band, which they felt diminished the performance.

In contrast, expectations are high that Nkosazana Daughter will deliver a more polished and satisfying show.

The upcoming concert will also feature Zimbabwean music legends, Alick Macheso and Freeman, making it a triple-threat night of entertainment blending amapiano, sungura, and Zim-dancehall.

The event also marks the return of the Manicaland Motoring Club to high-profile event hosting.

Their last major effort which saw them hosting Feli Nandi and Dorcas Moyo, did not meet expectations despite the artistes’ popularity.

With a new executive team led by Masimba Chihowa, the club is determined to reestablish itself as a trusted name in entertainment promotion.

In a statement released ahead of the event, Massive Entertainment, the show’s organisers, said they are enthusiastic and confident to deliver a world-class experience.

“This event is, not just a concert, but a cultural experience designed to unite music lovers from across all genres. We are honoured to host the exceptionally talented Nkosazana Daughter for her first-ever show in Mutare, and we are confident that she will deliver a memorable performance.

“The inclusion of Zimbabwean legends, Alick Macheso and Freeman is a deliberate move to showcase the power of collaboration and musical diversity. We have taken all lessons from past events seriously and have implemented top-tier stage design, security and sound systems to ensure that patrons enjoy every moment in a safe, vibrant atmosphere.

“Our goal is to revive the live entertainment scene in Manicaland and offer fans events they can truly be proud of,” reads part of the statement.
