CITY of Mutare has restored normal water supply after four days of unavailability of the precious liquid.
Residents in Mutare had a torrid time after the abrupt stop in water supply.
Mutare City Council spokesman Mr Spren Mutiwi confirmed the restoration of water supplies in the eastern border city.
“We have completed the emergency repair works and normal water supply is now being restored. This was not a maintenance schedule but an emergency which affected the production of water, since the repairs were carried out at the plant.
“During the crisis and even up to now council is implementing water augmentation strategy and providing relief through water bowsers and a number of residents were provided with water and some will be provided today.
“The water levels are slowly building up but as we indicated it takes two to four days to fill up the Christmas Pass balancing tanks depending on the turbidity of the pungwe river water,” said Mr Mutiwi.
