NSSA’s ReNaissance investment gets the nod

Minister Mpariwa was responding to a question in Parliament from Goromonzi North MP Cde Paddy Zhanda (Zanu-PF) who sought to know the rationale behind NSSA’s decision. “NSSA is in very good hands and the board looks at which areas to invest in. Investment in ReNaissance was a good idea and this was approved by Cabinet,” she said.

“There are more benefits in investing than just keeping the resources. We are secure in the direction that NSSA has taken.” Cde Zhanda said it would have been prudent if the money had been used to support industry.
Minister Mpariwa reiterated that funds for the Basic Education Assistance Module were available despite Unicef’s withdrawal.

But she said the fund was overwhelmed as more vulnerable children applied for the fund.
Legislators also asked Deputy Prime Thokozani Khupe what Government was doing about the cotton price war between farmers and merchants. DPM Khupe said Cabinet had set up a committee that would come up with a price that would be used.

She said so far there were three price proposals; from the Ministry of Agriculture, Mechanisation and Irrigation Development, from the merchants and from the farmers.

Redcliff MP Cde Isheunesu Muza (Zanu-PF) also asked what action Government was taking to make sure NewZim Steel operates.
MPs also asked Information and Communication Technology Minister Nelson Chamisa when they were going to receive the laptops he promised them.

Minister Chamisa said the State Procurement Board had invited tenders for the supply of the laptops.
