A NURSE at Mpilo Central Hospital beat up her husband before locking him outside the house after he demanded his property.
Nomaswazi Nkala (35) of Bulawayo’s Sauerstown suburb is alleged to be violent and beats up her husband, Dumisani Chama (38), whenever they have a misunderstanding.
This was revealed when Chama appeared before a Bulawayo magistrate Ms Evelyn Mashavakure appealing for a protection order against his wife.
He told the court that his wife was always abusing him both physically and emotionally.

“Your Worship, I have tried to be patient about my wife’s behaviour but this is now getting worse. She beats me up and insults me in front of my daughter.
“I have made several reports to the police about her violence and she assaults me with lethal objects like glasses. I can even show you the scars in my body to prove that she is making my life difficult.

“She has since locked me out of the house and went to her parents’ place. She tells me that she will not give me my property back.
“I now fear for my life and my child because she has become a problem to me.

“I am here to apply for a protection order so that she stops abusing me because I need peace in my life. She even refused to come to court,” he said.
The magistrate ordered that Chama and his wife go for a two-week counselling programme.

“You should go for counselling together with your wife. I have granted you a protection order that your wife should stop abusing you both physically and emotionally,” she said.

She also added that Nkala should allow her husband to have access to his property.
